medical textbook for handheld computers developed by Dr. Mohammad Al-Ubaydli, a
doctor and programmer from Cambridge University in Great Britain. Medical
Approaches has been described as "A Medical Text That Heals Itself", in that

and improvements for the next edition, which they are again invited to download.

arterial blood gas values. Very nicely done. Freeware.
BMI Calculator - From
the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI). Accepts English or metric
system input, and includes BMI classification table for adults. Freeware.
BreastCa - A
fast, easy-to-use, and accurate implementation of two commonly-used models of
breast cancer risk prediction: the Gail and Claus models. Freeware.
Code Blue -
Designed for rapid acquisition of medication doses in a resuscitation setting,
allows the user to quickly see all the medications relevant to a specific task
on one screen. Shareware.
Count It! -
Great for lab techs, pathologists, veterinarians, vet techs, physicians or any
one who needs the ability to count something without having to look away from
their work. Shareware.
DoseCalc - Quickly calculates

EBM Calculator -

IOLCalc - Written by an
ophthalmologist for ophthalmologists to calculate accurate intraocular lens (IOL)

MedCalc - Well-done medical
calculator designed for rapid calculation of common equations used in internal
medicine. Similar to MedMath (below), but with a few more equations. Freeware.
Medicalc - One of the
first general-purpose medical calculators for the Palm OS®, now
available as public domain software (with source code). Freeware.
Medical Calculations for SynCalc - Dr. Jeff Gilfor's collection of
often used medical calculations, with input in kilograms and centimeters.

MedMath - Medical calculator for things like creatinine clearance,
corrected sodium, FENa, etc. My personal favorite in this category. Freeware.
MedRules - An
award-winning
application featuring useful clinical prediction rules taken from the medical
literature. For educational use only. Freeware.
Ranson - Quickly calculates
mortality for acute pancreatitis. Freeware, from the author of
PregCalc.
STAT Cardiac Risk Calculator
- Estimates coronary heart disease risk using the Framingham Heart Study
Prediction Scores. Freeware.
STAT Cholesterol
- Guides clinicians through the new ATP III cholesterol guidelines. Freeware.
STAT Growth Charts
- Calculates pediatric growth percentiles based on the June 2000 revision of the
CDC Growth Charts for the United States. Freeware.

Medical Wizards - Features

Obstetric Calculations for SynCalc - Equations for calculating
intrauterine growth, ultrasound dating, and estimating fetal weight by

Palm Stat - Calculate chi-square tests in 2x2 contingency tables,
relative risk, diagnostic tests, probabilities (normal, chi-square, Student,

PregCalc Pro - Excellent obstetric calculator, and one of the first
medical apps for the PalmTM handheld. Highly

PregTrak - Inexpensive
alternative to PregCalc. Some users might prefer its simpler interface as well.
